PROJECT Trio is a genre-defying chamber music ensemble that has spent more than two decades pushing the boundaries of what a three-person ensemble can sound like—and what a career in chamber music can look like.
Featuring beatbox flute, saxophone, and double bass, PROJECT Trio blends classical music with jazz, hip-hop, funk, rock, improvisation, and original music to create a sound entirely its own. The trio's virtuosic, high-energy performances move effortlessly between concert repertoire, original compositions, and unexpected arrangements, combining serious musicianship with an infectious sense of fun and spontaneity.
PROJECT Trio was also among the first classical ensembles to harness the power of online video, building a worldwide audience with more than 100 million views and helping pioneer a new model for independent musicians in the digital age. That same adventurous spirit has taken the trio to concert halls, performing arts centers, universities, schools, and orchestras across 43 states and 12 countries.
Education has been at the heart of PROJECT Trio from the beginning. Through performances, workshops, and residencies, the ensemble has reached more than 850,000 students, using live music to inspire creativity, curiosity, improvisation, and musical exploration.
More than 20 years after its founding, PROJECT Trio continues to evolve—creating new music, collaborating with orchestras and young musicians, releasing recordings, and finding new ways to connect audiences with the excitement of live music.
Peter Seymour
Peter Seymour is a musician, educator, and arts entrepreneur who has spent more than two decades building a career outside the traditional boundaries of classical music.
As co-founder and Executive Director of PROJECT Trio, Peter helped build the ensemble from the ground up, developing an unconventional chamber music project into an internationally touring ensemble, education organization, and digital media presence. Long before entrepreneurship became a central part of the conversation in classical music, Peter was booking tours, building audiences, creating educational programs, producing videos and recordings, developing partnerships, and finding new ways to build a sustainable career in music.
Over the past two decades, PROJECT Trio has performed across 43 states and 12 countries, collaborated with major orchestras and performing arts organizations, released Billboard-charting albums, and reached more than 850,000 students through concerts, workshops, and residencies. For Peter, that educational impact—and the ability to sustain an adventurous musical career for more than 20 years—remains among the ensemble's proudest accomplishments.
Before launching PROJECT Trio, Peter trained as an orchestral bassist at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Rice University and performed with the New World Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra. He has taught at DePauw University and presented workshops and masterclasses at universities throughout the United States.
Greg Pattillo
Flutist Greg Pattillo is internationally recognized as a pioneer of beatbox flute and one of the most distinctive voices of his generation on the instrument. His groundbreaking videos helped introduce beatboxing and extended flute techniques to a worldwide audience, with more than 100 million views on YouTube and a global following that continues to grow.
More than a decade after becoming one of classical music's early viral artists, Greg continues to reach new audiences online. His recent beatbox flute videos have generated millions of views on social media, introducing his signature combination of virtuoso flute playing, rhythm, improvisation, and beatboxing to a new generation of listeners.
Greg earned his master's degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and previously served as acting principal flute of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. As a founding member of PROJECT Trio, he has performed and taught throughout the United States and around the world, bringing an adventurous and highly personal approach to the flute across classical, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary music.
Daniel Berkey
Saxophonist Daniel Berkey is a sought-after New York City musician whose career reflects the extraordinary range of the city's music scene. Equally at home in jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop, pop, and contemporary chamber music, Daniel performs regularly throughout New York with a wide range of artists and ensembles.
Daniel is a member of the Olive Tree Madmen, the house band performing every Monday night at the legendary Olive Tree Café above New York's Comedy Cellar. Through the band and its Sounds from the Cellar series, he has performed and collaborated with an eclectic roster of guest artists. His performance credits also include The Four Tops, the Mingus Band, Bobby Broom, Marquis Hill, and Dennis Carroll.
Originally from Chicago, Daniel began performing professionally at age 13 and received a DownBeat Magazine Outstanding Soloist Award before moving to New York to attend The New School. As a member of PROJECT Trio, Daniel brings the sound, spontaneity, and improvisational spirit of the New York music scene to the ensemble.
